Romeo Santos and Carlito Fuente have joined forces to introduce “Por Amor al Tío,” a special collaboration featuring Fuente Fuente OpusX created in honor of the Dominican artist’s late uncle.
A Collaboration Built Around Family
According to the information released about the project, Santos’ uncle was a father figure in his life and a cigar enthusiast. The collaboration takes that family relationship as its starting point, connecting Santos’ personal history with the Fuente family’s cigar-making tradition.
The project also has a charitable component, with proceeds benefiting Los Santos Foundation and Cigar Family Charitable Foundation.
A Limited Production of 500 Boxes
Production of Por Amor al Tío will be limited to 500 collector’s boxes.
Each box will contain 20 Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars produced specifically for the collaboration, accompanied by an Elie Bleu cutter featuring an OpusX-inspired design.
The launch information identifies the cigars as measuring 6 7/8 x 50. Cigar Aficionado has reported a different measurement, so Dominican Leaf is not presenting the vitola specification as fully corroborated across sources.
The cigars were produced in the Dominican Republic by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. and, according to Cigar Aficionado, use Dominican tobacco grown at Chateau de la Fuente in Bonao.
A First for Arturo Fuente
The collaboration also represents an unusual development in Arturo Fuente’s history.
According to the launch information, Por Amor al Tío will be the first Fuente cigar box in more than 100 years of the company’s history to bear the name of someone outside the Fuente family.
The name directly references Santos’ relationship with his late uncle and distinguishes the collection from conventional Fuente releases associated with the company’s own family history.
Two Charitable Organizations Will Benefit
Proceeds from the project will benefit two organizations connected to the families involved.
Los Santos Foundation, founded by Romeo Santos, supports initiatives benefiting children with autism and their families.
Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, established by the Fuente and Newman families, has supported children and families in communities in the Dominican Republic, particularly in the Bonao region. The foundation was established in 2001.
The collaboration therefore connects two philanthropic initiatives through a limited cigar production.
World Premiere Scheduled for Hollywood, Florida
“Por Amor al Tío” will have its world premiere on December 3, 2026, during the inaugural gala of Los Santos Foundation in Hollywood, Florida.
Guests attending the gala will have the first opportunity to acquire the collection.
The collection will not be distributed through conventional retail channels. According to the published information, the 500 boxes will be connected to the fundraising activities of Los Santos Foundation.
