Dominican Leaf is launching Detrás del Humo, a Spanish-language podcast featuring conversations with leading figures from the Dominican tobacco industry, recorded inside their factories, lounges and working environments.
A New Format for Documenting the Dominican Tobacco Industry
Dominican Leaf is launching Detrás del Humo, a new podcast focused on documenting the Dominican tobacco industry through conversations with the people who work within it.
The first season will feature four interviews with industry figures from different companies and segments of the Dominican premium cigar sector:
- Manuel Inoa of La Aurora
- Raquel Quesada of Quesada Cigars
- Henderson Ventura of Adventura
- Tony Gómez of La Flor Dominicana
Rather than recording the conversations in a conventional studio, each episode was produced within the guests' respective environments, including factories and brand lounges. The format is intended to place the conversations within the physical spaces where the industry operates.
Four Protagonists, Four Perspectives
The first season was developed around conversations with people directly involved in the production, development and representation of premium cigars.
By recording the interviews inside their respective environments, Detrás del Humo seeks to document not only what these industry figures have to say, but also the places and working contexts surrounding their careers and companies.
The objective is to create an audiovisual record of the Dominican tobacco industry told by its own protagonists.
One Episode Every Month
The first episode is scheduled for August 2026, with one new episode planned each month during the first season.
The full podcast will be produced in Spanish. On YouTube, the episodes will also be available with automatic subtitles in multiple languages, including English and German, allowing the conversations to reach audiences beyond Spanish-speaking markets.
Short-form clips from each episode will also be distributed through Instagram and TikTok.

An Editorial Archive of the Industry
Detrás del Humo expands Dominican Leaf’s work beyond written coverage by creating a long-form audiovisual archive centered on the people behind the Dominican tobacco industry.
The project will be directed by Raudy Jiménez, founder of Dominican Leaf, with the first season structured around monthly conversations recorded directly inside the environments where its guests develop their work.
The first episode arrives in August 2026.
