De Los Reyes Cigars

Factory History
De Los Reyes Cigars is a family-owned Dominican premium cigar manufacturer with roots extending more than 160 years through six generations of the Reyes family’s involvement in tobacco growing, leaf brokerage and cigar production. The Dominican operation was established in 1994 and became a ProCigar member in 2010.
The Reyes family’s tobacco history predates the modern factory by more than a century. The family’s activities have included tobacco cultivation and leaf trading, providing experience in agricultural production and tobacco selection before the development of its own premium cigar manufacturing operation. A particularly important component of the family’s agricultural activity is the Reyes tobacco operation in Navarrete, approximately 25 miles from Santiago, where wrapper tobacco is cultivated.
De Los Reyes Cigars developed as a vertically oriented tobacco business, combining access to family-grown leaf with cigar manufacturing and processing. The company subsequently expanded its industrial footprint through the development of El Limonal Free Zone, inaugurated in 2004 by Augusto Reyes. The industrial park became home to De Los Reyes’ facilities as well as other companies, expanding the family’s role beyond cigar manufacturing into industrial operations.
The factory itself operates as a boutique-scale premium cigar manufacturer rather than one of the Dominican Republic’s largest mass-volume facilities. Its production includes both the family’s own cigar brands and manufacturing for third-party companies. Cigar Coop documented that the Santiago factory produces cigars for brands including Debonaire House, Patoro Cigars, Topper Cigars and Casa de Sueños, illustrating the facility’s contract-manufacturing role.
The manufacturing system is closely connected to the family’s tobacco-processing activities. This relationship gives De Los Reyes greater control over raw material selection, particularly for wrapper tobacco, while allowing the factory to produce blends according to the requirements of different brands. The company’s emphasis remains on handmade premium production, with experienced rollers and master blenders forming the core of the manufacturing operation.
Since 2012, the business has evolved under the direction of Augusto Reyes, representing the fifth generation, and Nirka Reyes, representing the sixth generation. Nirka Reyes has served as president and has been directly involved in both the De Los Reyes cigar brand and the factory’s third-party manufacturing activities.
The factory’s current identity reflects this combination of agricultural heritage, family ownership and boutique manufacturing. ProCigar describes De Los Reyes as a family-owned premium cigar manufacturer focused on handcrafted cigars, while its current brand showcase includes Saga, Don Julio, Patoro, Debonaire and Indian Cigars.
Today, De Los Reyes represents a manufacturing model in which tobacco cultivation, processing, blending and cigar production remain connected within a multigenerational family enterprise. Its significance in the Dominican industry is therefore not defined solely by production volume, but by the continuity of the Reyes family’s involvement with tobacco and its ability to manufacture both proprietary and third-party premium cigars.
